Fly between the major cities, there are two dominant airlines, Qantas and Virgin Australia.
Most visitors need a visa before they fly. Eligible passports can get an ETA or eVisitor online, usually approved quickly. Others might need to apply for a Visitor visa (600). Rules change often, so always confirm on the official Department of Home Affairs site or contact a Registered Migration Agent or YourHomeVisa.
Medicare generally does not cover visitors, so arrange your own health and travel cover before you fly. Ambulance and hospital bills can be very large. Visitors from a handful of countries may get some medically necessary care under a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement, but you still need your own insurance. More details are here or contact Real Insurance.
